Dr. Thompson’s research documents exposure and assesses the health risks associated with exposure to emerging contaminants including like mixture of insecticides, fungicides, synergists and growth promoters, as well as per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) through biomonitoring, environmental monitoring, and epidemiological studies in Iowa. Dr. Thompson is especially interested in understanding linkages between these exposures with immune suppression, preeclampsia, and diabetes.
