Biography

Dr. Matthew Nagorzanski is a Postdoctoral Research Scholar working in partnership at CHEEC and the State Hygienic Laboratory at the University of Iowa. Dr. Nagorzanski’s background is in Environmental Engineering, with a focus on nanomaterials, passive sampling, and environmental analysis of pesticides and pharmaceuticals. He has also previously done work incorporating Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion topics and conversations into first year engineering course work. Dr. Nagorzanski’s current work at CHEEC is focused on analysis of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), also known as “forever chemicals”, in drinking water and surface water across Iowa. He is trained in analytical methods for PFAS in water and is partnered with other researchers at CHEEC and elsewhere to develop analytical methods for PFAS in other matrices.
